Obviously you don't know your *nix
All camps in the computer industries have thier positions and opinions. I am purely stating what I believe to be fact by actual on job related experience. I do have to tell you it gets annoying when you are knoledgable in both camps and others sit back and say stuff that is not true and you know it from experience.

So as I read your post I am compelled to point out that you obviously have no experience with any *nix distros or programs from your comment.

Lets start with fixes and patches - in all cases unix and linux have had patches out in a timely manner comparatively to Microsoft. Not several months or months, but within weeks to normally days.

as far as updating Unix or Linux, it simple - you can do it manual or you can find updaters such as up2date, yum, and atp-get just to name a few. Most *nix and Linux have repositorys for these updates - so yes they do have facilities.

No one has said that Unix or Linux is out of the loop on fixes and patches, but they have been more reliable in fixing and patching things stronger and g faster then Microsoft by far.

Unix and Linux have always been built from the bottom to the top with security in mind. Microsoft has just recently just started to really buckle down. The only reason, is they know now they have too.

But please - believe what you must.
