In this case, the antivirus product itself is acting like a virus, and caused a heck of a lot of damage.
I am so sick of antivirus software. My work PC (1.7 GHz machine) has antivirus software on it, and the bloody antivirus software cripples the system performance for simple tasks that involve looking at multiple files, such as doing a file search or installing company software.
I saw a demo of a dual-core processor box, and one of the "cool" things about it was that it could run an antivirus scan at the same time as doing real work. Yeah, great, but it's sort of pathetic that you need to add what 10-15 years ago would be considered a low end supercomputer to band-aid a fundamentally insecure operating system. I'd rather have that second core available for work, instead of antivirus.
And I'm sick of antivirus software at home deciding it's time to download updates and sucking up my bandwidth. - Posted by: mobrien_12@... Posted on: 03/13/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
