Does this mean...
that Stanford and Carnegie Mellon have seen the Windows code (shared source or whatever)?

And if this 30-40 per 1000 lines of code is directly applicable to Windows etc, should not Microsoft be getting out the baseball bats and whips to "encourage" their code monkeys to write less buggy code?

It is amusing to imagine this scene, with Steve Ballmer announicng to "the troops"...

"The beatings will continue until the code improves"!

Accompanied by the sounds of the crashing of chairs...
