Incomplete statement, though.
How to make your rewritten statement more accurate.

The modified statement:
IBM and Novell have come out in support for Higgins, a previously unknown ID management effort to ZDNet because we are too busy focusing on attacking Microsoft products.

ZDNet editors have two expected tones about Microsoft, snarling or scowling. Must be difficult to choose between them for any given story.

But my favorite ZDNet stories about Microsoft are the ones wriitten in an apparently sympathetic tone. The stories consider how Microsoft might surrender all the advantages that earn its profits in order to enter a future technology landscape that requires poverty and obedience to "standards".

Tech writers' are trying to assume the mantle of St. Francis of Assisi. Except that the birds attracted don't bother swooping closer in order to deliver their reaction.
