The difference is...
do I, as an IT professional, want to completely relinquish any control over my environment. It all boils down to what level of responsibility I am willing to accept. If I want to be able to just shrug my shoulders and blame problems on the host or the internet or someone's misconfigured router, SOA looks great. If I want to have a chance at actually fixing problems when they happen, SOA takes most of that ability away from me.
