What they're really saying...
This isn't "cyberpunks". It's an industry group that consults to "anti-virus software manufacturers". THEY created the virus. They wanted a "proof-of-concept" so that the industry can start billing PDA users for additional services.

I noticed about three years ago that after installing ****** Anti-Virus I received, dutifully, a number of simple viruses that were easily knocked down by their software...they came from untraceable links in cyberspace at the edge of nowhere.

I suspended the virus software for a period of months and when I re-started it, I got a bushel basket of the virus emails, all basically the same, right after re-launch. Their algorithym "caught up" with the montly feedings of viruses intended to keep users on the reservation and validating their purchase...

There are real viruses out there. There are also a greedy band of corporate miscreants that produce a lot of the traffic, as well.

And this article says they've now ot their eye on my PDA, and their CFO is running the calculator to see what the take is going to be. The "Industry Council" is running the threat up the flagpole to see if PDA users are going to panic and purchase.
