Before InfoCards MS had Passport, also an electronic wallet. Linux has something of an equivalent in KDE Wallet Manager. So with Higgins and InfoCard, it's just an extension of the idea. I like it, but I don't think this is the "end of passwords" as Gates likes to think, just a way to manage them better.
