Once again, things are going in a good direction, but Microsoft insists upon refusing to use it unless|until it (the thing) uses Microsoft's spin. We've seen multiple attempts by Microsoft to accomplish this. The latest, Passport, did a crash & burn with lots of pretty colors in the flames. In the past, they were working with Mastercard & Visa to create a wallet where they (Microsoft) would collect something like 1/10'000 of a cent (or was it percent?) from every transaction. Something very innocent, until the total funds traversing the monetary pipeline were considered. (look at yactamillion; or was it yottamillion?)

Quote from about ten years ago (heard it for myself): "I don't care what the Information Superhighway looks like as long as I have a tollbooth on it." This was not long after WHG III realized they were about to ignore and ignored by the Internet.
