How do you avoid it? Easy...
Just like your PC, don't download code you know nothing about! I've seen it happen across bluetooth working here in Torino and in almost every 60ft^2 of our broadcast centre, there is at least one dude with a phone infected with the ComWarrior virus harrassing all of our bluetooth enabled phones. What do you do? Don't accept the damn file and all is well!

It's not that difficult. I'm still buying a Symbian based phone (Nokia E60) upon its release but I also know that since I don't need to load any applications because I'm happy with what the phone has, I won't have this phone accepting any files! Very simple indeed.
