I agree that it's all free
but since MS is marketing Windows to the masses,all that stuff, from AV to firewalls to patching, also has to be dummy-proof. I'll admit it has improved vastly over the last 3 years or so, but you still have to know to install the stuff in the first place.

Maybe OneCare will make it dummy-proof. That's certainly what I hope will happen. But it won't be dummy-proof AND free. I don't think any of us should fool ourselves into thinking that's even possible. But... there will always be some numbnuts who truly need a dummy-proof system but refuse to pay for one. And that is going to be a problem, one that will continue to haunt MS in the long run.
