Are anti-virus vendors behind this scare?
The fact that "Inqtana is a proof-of-concept worm, according to
Symantec and F-Secure", and that Apple fixed the BlueTooth
security hole months ago leads me to believe that security
companies are purposefully stirring up fear in order to drum up
business for their products.

It's suspicious that Inqtana would appear just after yesterday's
OS X Leap-A worm announcement. The Bluetooth vulnerability
had been described in detail way back in April 2005 by Kevin
Finisterre (and patched by Apple sooon after). Looking for the
origin of Inqtana, all I could find is that Symantec was the first to
report it on 2006-02-17 17:04 (GMT+1). Leap-A was first
found on a website but Symantec is mum about where Inqtana
originated. It wouldn't take much intelligence to cook up a Java
application to take advantage of the vulnerability. I'm sure
Symantec has very knowledgeable Java programmers able to do
this in a day.

Moreover on Feb 15 at the RSA conference John Thompson, CEO
of Symantec, was pushing for federal laws to mandate for the
establishment of security systems to make consumers feel safe.
Guess who stands to make millions more out of this?

Go Symantec, rootkit maker and fear monger!
