You have no idea what you're talking about
Here's a hint, use admin tools to make your life easier.

And what admin tools would those be? Automatic updates? Use those in an enterprise environment and it's you who would be out looking for a job. Because in shops that size you have to patch test before rolling them out. At least you suggest testing them, not everyone does. And then something stops working and my phone will ring and I get to bill a half-day figuring out what service didn't start or what couldn't connect to a data source. It's always something. You can manage patches centrally with any number of products besides automatic updates, but even that doesn't relieve the necessity of testing them, which requires maintaining a test platform. Gosh, I don't see that in the TCO studies, either.

MSFT doesn't spend a lot of time talking about patch testing because it adds to TCO and overhead costs and why clutter up a nice MSFT FUnDed financial analysis with confusing facts?

But you won't get that kind of easiness managing 10,000 linux computers since all their management tools suck as seen in a recent article.

Also bogus. I'd rather manage 10,000 Linux boxes than a 1,000 Windows machines for the same money.

You have a link for that article? And which tools would those be? Open source tools or commercial? Which type: Desktop mangement? Data management? Server management? Patch management?

Here's a clue: When you NBMers talk about all Linux flavors and tools like they're a single product, you might as well be broadcasting that you have no experience actually working with them in a production envrionment. I'd be willing to bet most of you don't even know where the IT department is in your company, let alone what they do all day.

A handful of you think you got skillz because you have a NAT router and a firewall set up at home. And a couple are patting themselves on the back for figuring out VMWare. Woooweee. lol. You go, boy.
