what cash?
Seriously, we're moving toward a cashless society where hard currency (paper money and coin money) will no longer be accepted...perhaps even illegal to use. Just imagine trying to buy a 20 oz. bottle of Pepsi with two one dollar bills, and then cashier refuses to serve you, and then imagine if hard currency was illegal and said cashier calls the police because you "tried to purchase a product with hard currency" and then the cops come and arrest you.

Why do you think you are seeing more people paying by personal checks (which almost always requires valid ID) and/or credit/debit cards? It's to condition people into paying with anything other without using actual cash, hence the term "cashless society".
