Do you mean Canada? I believe that here in the states it is true that the violent crime rate is much lower in areas where citizens aren't banned from guns in some form (concealed, personal mostly), D.C. or N.Y. being great examples.

The same is true for Canada, but the gun laws are much stricter there, and the ratio of gun owners to citizens is very different than in the states. I believe that in most of Canada, you cannot carry concealed either, whereas here, I believe that about 4/5 of the states have "shall issue" permits for concealed carry.

Oh, GREAT point: ...Laws don't stop criminals.... It seems that our congress is agreeing with that simple but powerful and true statement more and more each day, if you've noticed the great gains in the laws to enforce the whole "legal commerce" concept and protect the second ammendment.

Now, as far as a national ID..........?
