Immanuel: If ignorance is bliss...
you must be the happiest person in the world!!

the nitwit IT jerk couldn't figure out how to give me administrative rights on the box without giving me administrative rights on the whole network

Then you had a nitwit IT jerk working for you, your point? Windows networks are more than capable of differentiating between enterprise admins and local admins. To suggest otherwise would be pure FUD. You wouldn't want to spread FUD, would you?

Well, that just worked great. I couldn't install any software

Wait a second, you are complaining that you couldn't install software as a restricted rights user? HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Isn't that the point? Isn't that why all the OSX zealots incorrectly believe that OSX is superior to Windows because OSX is the only OS known to mankind that doesn't allow day-to-day accounts to install programs? HAHAHAHA!!!! Sounds to me like Windows was doing its job! If it had let you install programs, then you'd have something to complain about!!! HAHAHAHA!!!! The really hilarious thing is that Windows is actually one of the few OSs that will allow non-administrator accounts to install programs as long as the install program doesn't need to modify any system settings. OSX (from what I've been told on ZDNet by Mac people) and the Linux package managers I've used are the ones that are completely incapable of ever allowing this to happen, even if no admin privileges are actually required. If this is a complaint you have about Windows, you had better complain twice as loud about OSX!

every time I launched Photoshop or
Flash I had to reset all my preferences

I can't speak for Flash or Photosop from 5 years ago but I can say that Flash works just fine for me now and besides, why are you blaming Photoshop bugs on Windows? Last I checked, Microsoft has never had anything to do with the authorship of either of these products. From the sounds of it though, you had an incompetent IT department so it doesn't surprise me that things weren't working well.

So don't tell me I don't know how to run Windows.

Why? It sounds like I speak the truth: you don't know how to run Windows. You had a negative experience with someone else running Windows so you assumed that Windows isn't capable of doing certain things. You would be wrong. I certainly wouldn't judge the capabilities of OSX based on the experiences of someone who couldn't give me local admin rights without giving me total control of the whole network. That would be silly and unfair of me, wouldn't it?

NOBODY knows how to run Windows, because Windows is a steaming pile of crap!

Ahh, now the scientific and rational part of Immanuel comes out. I'm curious, do you often spread outright lies when you find yourself talking about things you know nothing about? Some people would be honest and say: I don't really have any experience administering Windows so I don't know what it can and cannot do. You obviously aren't a very honest person. sad

I'm just sick of smug, arrogant morons who don't know crap about other operating systems telling me what to use!

Must... fight... urge... to... call... kettle... black...!! It sounds to me like I know more about OSX than you do about Windows because you are 100% clueless about Windows and I'm only 50% clueless about OSX. Reread my posts Immanuel and you will see that all I do are say things like: Windows works this way, Windows can do this too, Windows isn't that different in this respect... etc. I challenge you, CHALLENGE you to go back over my posts and point out where I told anyone that they should use Windows instead of OSX. Funny thing is that I probably use Linux more than I use Windows, I just don't like to see people like you spread FUD. I think that people should make informed decisions and if they listened to the likes of you, their decisions would be anything but informed.
