Why is the burden on consumers?
I am more than willing to help law enforcement in anyway I can. However,....

This will continue to be a growing problem for all of us. The FBI won't even get involved if less than 50K of loss. Local Police do a great job but the courts have little or not understanding of what's involed in ID theft and unwillingness to prosecute. Laws have little or no impact. Visa, Mastercard, etc along with Credit Reporting companies assume no responsibly and provide little help but big road blocks for anyone that has had their ID stolen.
