This is true and some what on it's way , but
untill this technology is standarised and works properly, it will be a nightmare.
motorola (Razr v3)and other companies already use mini USB to replace the phone connectors, however it is still propriatory tech. you can charge your phone from any computer without first installing the driver (Why would you need the driver for charging), you can not charge your phone in your car with a regular USB cable and car-to-usb adaptor (I tryed with my new Razr v3 phone) you need a special cable and adaptor. who comes up with this? I think if you use a standart connection it should work like one.
I can charge my PDA using any cable and car adaptor I want, why not cell phone.
