I agree...
...that Windows is "pretty easy" to keep current. One problem that Windows has, however, is that it's a "for dummies" OS. That is, its target audience is not necessarily computer-savvy.

Therefore, you can run into problems with people who don't understand how to turn the little switch "on."

My ol' dad actually said "no" to everything after the service pack was installed, because that's his default answer to anything he doesn't understand.

It's one thing to rely on IT departments within companies to roll out these patches. But there are millions of "just plain folks" who are using Windows XP too, and they don't have time to figure it out.
