The need for this product exists because of security issues

While it is true that a small fraction of malware is based on vulnerabilities, the easiest and most frequently used method of infecting Windows machines happens to be the easiest: convince the user to infect themselves. This product will protect users from themselves. It is not necessary for users who are the least bit computer savvy. If OSX or Linux had any type of marketshare, they too would require applications like this to protect users from themselves.
