Why the the average thief?
Why should we assume that the average thief is the only interested party? What about ORGANISED crime? Any drug addict sells that stuff he steals to someone who knows what to do with it.

Criminals today can be so tech savvy up to the point where they steal ATM details by making electronic devices to hang off ATM machines that also record on video you keying in your pin. So really some of this stuff isn't so difficult. Also don't assume all of the equipement is so expensive or difficult to get hold of.

If security is lax it should be fixed. Why can't banks transfer tapes using their own amoured-car transportation? Why do banks always insist the system is infallible and continue to think that way?
