If they are able to actualy control spam many would sign up for it.

That's one way to look at it but my take on the article is if I pay AOL to deliver my email to you, you're gonna get it whether you want it or not. If the user was actually able to control his inbox you would be right. But that doesn't seem to be the case. It seems rather to be a case of AOL is controlling your inbox and peddling the rights to it.

Oh yeah, that'll win customers over.
