the start of MS subscription based apps
This is what MS always wanted. A subscription based OS.
Surely, it will start as a competing product to other antivirus vendors.

What will happen is that MS will move security features to the subscription based software, so in the end you will HAVE to pay a subscription, on top of the upfront costs of purchasing the OS itself in order to be able to just surf the web savely.

It also show that Vista has the same codebase as XP, for why would they otherwise invest in antivirus technology.
