Good point

I've travelled back and forth for many years between the US and Europe, and American security at airports is FAR more intrusive (at least post september 11th, making the increase very understandable). I've arrived in a number of European countries, and it seems like they barely register that I arrived (then again, I don't know what goes behind the scenes).

I'm not sure we've quite figured out a calm way to manage airport security, though. The last several times I've departed from American airports I would call the security situation chaotic. Perhaps they manage to properly screen everybody, but I really couldn't say how.
