it's not ms that's wrong, it's...
sorry, but if this was apple making a security suite for apple computers...there would be nothing but praise saying they are building an os and protecting it. same for linux. same for any tech company (palm, blackberry) making software that protects the product they made.

but...

The problem I see, is Microsoft built the OS in the first place, they should be GIVING AWAY the security software to protect it.

Ford/Dodge/Chevy says: Here is your car, oh, but to have door locks, that's a monthly fee.

Bash them on the fact it's a subsciption service, but let them be and make some applications that provide integration. That's their model, they make the workstation, the server, the OS, the email program, the database program, everything talks to everything and you don't have to scream at 3rd party providers for failing to communicate with each other.
