Responding to getting rid of MicroSopht
While I agree with a bit of your editorial content, I prefer to think in terms of things that are a bit more practical and not only possible but probable.

I can't see a problem in the world with requiiring MS to be one of the lead "policing" forces when it comes to providing defense for the millions of consumers that are vulnerable to outside malicious forces against which the average guy (ME!) simply match wits on a software development basis. If I am not in a position to help my self, why shouldn't a portion of what I pay for software be allocated to helping me HELP MYSELF.
