Notre Dame probes hack of computer system

Wheather this was Linux, Windows, or Unix on the server,

The cause of the breach could have nothing to do with the server itself. The passwords could have been obtained from a keystroke logger installed through the WMF vulnerability on a Windows Desktop box for instance.

But, regardless, they should have this computer on an isolated network that is not connected to the internet. You can use tricks to export data, such as connecting computers with a serial port that sends non-confidential data ONE WAY ONLY, to an internet connected box.

This little breach will cost them so much money that this will probably not happen again any time soon at Notre Dame.
