Don't be silly
All the gov't wants is to make sure that they can do the
same thing with VOIP as they can do today with landline and
cell phones. They get a court order authorizing the tap and
institute it.

How do you think they catch real bad guys like the Gottis
and other mafiosos? Just today, there was a story about the
feds arresting a bunch of mafia gumbas for defrauding
people arond the country out of about 200 Million bucks.
I'm guessing that the feds might have tapped their phones
to gather evidence. That's why this is important, and GOOD,
for you and for me

And yes! The feds also use phone taps for tracing possible
terrorists and spies too. That's how they got the guys who
bombed the WTC in the 90s.
