Gee, the RIAA should hire you to beat the drum in the parade down Broadway. Pardon me while i'm just shedding a crocodile tear for Sony.(boo hoo) If the total number of computers infected with this garbage as postulated is anywhere near being correct, particularly in the government, Sony will be looking at hundreds of millions of dollars in fines and costs for their stupidity and ignorance, not to mention the company that wrote the software(First 4 Internet), violating U.K. law(from what I understand) against code that damages any computer. (correct me if i'm wrong) As for the "starving musicians", if they haven't gotten a record deal after 5 to 10 years in the business, they shouldn't have given up their day job. I know- been there, done that. I've been a drummer for 30 years, I didn't give up my day job, but I still enjoy playing. So, boo hoo for Sony/BMG. Pay up, sucker.
