Yes - anyone can... to the point that a non-root user can not compromise the entire system. This is inherent with a modular design. For the most part, *nix exploits require access to the console - not the remote access variety that is prevalant with Windows.

I'd provide you with a link, but I think we're beyond that point. You guys are going to think what you think. Meanwhile, I'm going to be out on the patio by the pool... Our support volume is way down since we started shipping systems with Linux servers.
