Stopping Bogus Software Patents
It people use a patent indavertently, it suggests the patent should never have been issued in the first place. Somebody patented something too obvious or prior art. The goal of the patent game is to con the patent clerk, who has only a short time for review, into thinking the patent has depth. The con artists can dress up trivia in convoluted language.

How can you prevent such frivolous patents from getting through? I see two approaches: (1) stop allowing software patents altogether, or (2) as part of the vetting process hand the problem the patent is supposed to solve to a small team, without letting them see the patent application. If they come up with essentially the same solution within 4 days, then the patent should not be issued.
