The Chicken Little Syndrome
And the only thing funnier is seeing the apologists lining up to claim the exploit of the moment really isn't a serious problem.

Windows is insecure by design. And since we now know MSFT is copying large sections of the Windows code base into Vista, you can rest assured that MSFT Security Follies are most certainly going to continue their run for the indefinite future.

Last week it was WMF, this week it's Wi-Fi, who knows what's coming next week. But one thing is for sure, we'll hear the same tired excuses for MSFT's lame security.

And it isn't THAT SERIOUS of a problem. The sky is NOT falling.

Windows DEFAULT security is, as you suggest, weak. However, as it's been said thousands of times before, Windows can be secured to the point where it's relatively bulletproof. If you know what you're doing, AND do what you should to secure your computer, then it's NOT an issue.

And if you read the article, if you've got SP2 installed, then it's a NON issue. Likewise, if you've got a 3rd party firewall, it's NOT an issue.

For what it's worth, Linux isn't much of an option. The WHY is that Linux requires the user to know what he/she is doing.

So we can conclude that Windows and Linux BOTH require some computer knowledge and expertise to setup and use.

With a competent IT department doing it's bit to set up most corporate computer systems, security isn't an issue.

Get over yourself.
