Not That Big A Problem
On moderated boards, if these spammers or other pain in the *** make it in once, their message is deleted and they are told not to post again, and in fact are blocked from doing so. So I guess this is mainly an issue with non-moderated boards.

Most of those I belong to do have a moderator of some sort. But it is easy to see how this can become a real pain. The worst part is the harvesting of email addresses from the boards. Then they can gather all the addys they want and start their dirty work. Especially the medical help boards, after which I am totally bombarded with spammers trying to sell Rx medications (which I consider a very dangerous practice). And they'll use random words in the subject line and personal names as "from" so the spam filter doesn't pick them up.

These spammers should be heavily fined....
