Firestone & Ford
This is a little off topic but I need to correct a misconception.
Firestone was not the one that caused the blow-out problem. Ford under-inflated the tires so their Explorer would pass the roll-over test. It didn't pass, so Ford dropped the air pressure to 26 psi which allowed the tires to hold the weight of the vehicle and 2 adults, anything else loaded on or into the vehicle overloaded the tires and caused them to overheat and blowup.
I'm so sick of people blaming Firestone when it was Ford's failure to correct a design flaw.
