Until MS Gets Sued ...
Is everyone suit happy? Can't you see that no matter what corporation gets sued, or how much 'they' have to pay, WE HAVE TO PAY THE PRICE! Suing them does no real good and only drives the prices for products up to make up for the monies 'won' (It's more like an 'alternative tax'!) Take the smokers for example ... basically ... 'we' won. The only problem is the people who were truly harmed by smoking didn't get a penny, they just had to pay more for a 30-50 year old habit. Most of the money was used to fill politicians' state coffers (Colorado alone is currently trying to get a buy-out to use the money to balance their budget - NOT for the intended use - like MOST STATES!) Still the prices for cigarettes skyrocketed! The tobacco companies didn't 'lose' ... only the people who had been smoking for all the years did (oh wait, what do we mean they didn't get any of the money? and little money was spent to educate teens - what a surprise!)

It would be so interesting to see Linux do everything that MS does and be as easy to implement. I would certainly consider that as an alternative. Yet, even with Red Hat, etc making it easier to install and configure for the normal person ... it won't do everything people need it to without them being a veritable expert or willing to invest an incredible amount of their valuable free time. For the home user, it is nothing much better than a 'specialty' OS or a 'hobby'.

Furthermore, even as it is now, if the roles were reversed (Linux on all the desktops instead of MS), you would see the hackers having reason to do the same to Linux and, if you don't think they would CONTINUALLY find ways to hack it, then you must be under 12.

Wake up and smell the coffee folks. It's not that I don't have respect for Linux in particular roles, it's the moronic attitude that it is godlike secure. The only 'reason' it is so secure is that it's not the major player and isn't expected to play well with EVERY other OS, every language, and peripheral manufactured ...
