Two mistakes:
a) Having a "schedule" for patches. It's absolutely ridiculous - patches should be made available immediately.

b) Whatever architecture they're using - taking this long to fix a problem becuase it's this "deep" means they're not taking advantage of modular, object oriented architechture, which allows individual modules to be swapped or modified with ease. This kind of thinking is reminicent of old, klunky, monolithic style programming.
