I agree with that
Politics does influence patching times. I had to worry about that at monthe end. It was rule not to touch servers or desktops during this period as the SSC had to get the financial reporting done before month end.

If you use patch management software you can deploy when the systems are down or not in use. I havent been able to test WOL in that framewrok but hopefully soon i will be.
