I Say Your Partially Correct
Microsoft doesn't hire idiots. But they don?t hire the Best of the Best either. They only hire college educated coders. I think most of them are probably good at raw coding. The thing is it takes looking beyond the code at what could be done with the code they write.
Back in the 70-80 hacking was young and most of the code base written was easily exploitable. But a large portion of that very same code base is re-used and is buggy and un-checked. But the Point that is beyond your comprehension is:

1.) If their programmers know so damn much why don't they fix all the major exploitable code as they know they exist and remains unfixed for so long.

2.) How is it that Linux remains the most secure code with out the rocket scientist's at M$.

If Linux with street coders can dance all over M$ and it's "very good Programmers" then I suggest that BGM was right and M$ programmers only think they are good. But when reality strikes they are only mediocre at best.
