You were asking the impossible
I posted this question with the hope that one of the more knowladgable Windows admin/users could be of assistance and maybe point me towards something I haven't thought of yet. I didn not post this to get a smart @ss remark.

I was only being a good little Linux User on ZDNet. I have to slam anyone who has problems with Windows by telling them that the solution is as easy as just formatting the HD and installing Linux.

IF it wasnt' for the fact this guy has a dental practice to run plus a lot of money tied up in his business software

but... but... but... any Windows program has 70 open source Linux alternatives of equal or better quality, right? Whenever anyone brings up the "there is more software available for Windows" the zealot replies with "impossible!". While not having any marketshare is very nice when it comes to having all malware writers ignore thousands of Linux vulnerabilities, it isn't so nice when it comes to available software. I just think it is hilarious when the "no marketshare is a good thing argument comes along! On a more serious note, why not use WINE or VMWare? If this is costing his business money, then spending money to solve the problem should be a perfectly viable solution.

Believe me, he would rather be on Mac or Linux

Uh huh, because he's been told, I'm sure, that when he switches that he'll run into no more problems. If he truly wanted to do it and it was truly feasible, it would have happened. So... why hasn't it happened?

Now do you have anything useful to post or are you going to be a moron?

I'll take option 2 because, after all, I'm a Linux User!!! wink
