Inadverdent leaks to media
The "leak" was intentional and justified by M$. Imagine, that the WMF vulnerability has caught the attention of the world as a large fire does. In order to instill calm and soothe the demands of an early release and fix and to demonstrate that M$ IS working deligently...this programming faux pas had to be quelched by rolling out a big red fire truck to show..."yep we're prepared...jus' as soon as we put a water pump on the truck...".

Although I suspect this fiasco of: "patch Tuesday" (reminds one of a significant religious holiday doesn't it...?); I'm not aware of one single administrator that would sigh relief and say: ok...if my sys goes down for a few days, Patch Tuesday is right around the corner... It doesn't appear that corporate customers' are "bothered" by patching unnecessary evils to keep business running smoothly...but a M$ dictate to keep a day open in the IT labs...JUST for them.
