Nothing to worry about?????
Here in the Netherlands already two separate attempts have been found to lure users towards malicious sites or opening a WMF file. One is using MSN messenger and the other is using an email.

Luckily all media in the Netherlands are reporting on this one so i hope a lot of people are warned (it was even on the childrens news wink ).

I can live with virusses which exploit bugs as bugs are almost inevetable. Unless you're willing to drive youre developers utterly crazy by constantly doing regression testing etc.

Where I can't live with is plain lazyness and stupidity as is here the case. This WMF flaw is caused by a design decission in windows 3.0 and for some reason has been carried on in al subsequent versions of windows without anybody just checking whether design decission made in windows 3.0 where still valid. I call this laziness and plain stupidity if you don't mind!!!

I wonder how many of these relics are still in the code waiting to be explored and even worse are being exploited without anybody noticing.

I've understood that windows Vista has been designed without a lot of the legacy, but still the backwards compatibility (compatability with WMF could be a problem there, as the exploit uses a feature of WMF!!!!). Backwards compatibility is a good thing, but please have a look at what you're making it compatible with.

These virusses and spyware installers are a real problem pestering the windows user community and MS seems not to be able to have people forego their admin rights as they see it actually as an inconvenience!! (spoiling users with to much rights is a bad thing to do)

It's not a scare tactic Mr loverock Davidson, it is an absolute necessity to make users aware of the dangers when being out there on the net. Just recently a bot net of over 100000 computers was found.

So better stick your remarks in a place where the sun doens't shine!!!!
