Re: Job Security
> It makes me sad when people talk about viruses and other
security and support issues in terms of job security. I mean, do
you really think you wouldn't have jobs if it weren't for this
unproductive nonsense?

Actually, Yes I do. And if you paid attention to my previous post I was attemting some form of humor. I also stated that not everyone knows how to use a computer so my job really isn't going anywhere. And this "unproductive nonsense" that you referred to is going to be there as long as there are people who create the damn viruses or worms for that matter.

> Don't you think it's possible that you
might have a more worthwhile, interesting and perhaps even
uplifting job? I mean, to me it sounds like saying disease is a
good thing because it provides work for nurses, physicians and
pharmacologists, or crime is a good thing because it creates
more work for law enforcement.

Did I say THAT? Hell no! I'm talking about computers. Those little MAN-MADE things that you are probably typing into right now. I don't know what gave you the idea to compare any sort of computer work to being a doctor, nurse, or a police officer. That kind of work is necessary because face it, sickness and death happen. As does crime. If it didn't then of course there wouldn't be a NEED for those kind of jobs. That's kind of an extreme there.

> I know that some people enjoy
this kind of work, but wouldn't we be better off if it weren't
necessary?

Well duh. Who wouldn't want a life free of disease, crime, poverty and the like? Is it practical? No. Is it going to happen? Maybe when they start selling snow cones in Hades.
