Leftie operations
"All of you guys trying to play the role of the "noble peacemaker calling for restraint" are forgetting the way that the Clinton administration, and ANYBODY who isn't "with" the Dubya administration, has been treated: they have always been vilified and persecuted in any way possible."

It's well-known that there's a liberal bias in the media, with the exception of FoxNews, which tends toward the conservative side, but nonetheless also has people like Alan Colmes to give some argument from another perspective. You can hardly say that Clinton and his chronies have been vilified - any ridicule he got came from his multiple scandals.

"You want me to give the Corporations a break because Sarbanes-Oxley, et al, will eventually get 'im?"

No. Noone gets a break. But you shouldn't jump to a paranoid conclusion either until you know why the merchant info has not been released.

"Okay, then how about when we do actually "get" some of these guys, and they go to prison, let's put 'em in with the general population so they have the opportunity see what prison life is all about. And let's make sure we find ALL of their ill-gotten gains so they have to wear Goodwill clothes rather than still being able to somehow afford tailored suits when they get out."

I'm all for recouping any ill-gotten assets. Putting them in with drug dealers and murderers, though, is not right. Thieves they may be, and on a large scale, but white-collar criminals aren't generally physically dangerous to anyone, but would be in serious danger themselves from those thugs. As a general principal, people are protected in prison - even from themselves. It's why some people are put on suicide watch. To merge these guys together would be almost a death sentence for many of them. So, yes, grab their assets, seize their multi-million dollar vacation homes, freeze their accounts - until every penny is accounted for and paid back. But don't put them in the same prison yard as the drug dealers, rapists, and murderers.

"The only reason that Dubya okayed those wiretaps was to find his POLITICAL enemies, foreign AND domestic. He wasn't interested in protecting America or Americans or he wouldn't be defending that illegal activity NOW."

There isn't one shred of evidence that has come out yet to indicate that was the case. You are being seriously conspiratorial here. You need to keep in mind - I am not *for* these unwarranted wiretaps! I'm only reminding you that there's no proof they were used on anyone who isn't a criminal or who was suspected of terrorist plots. How do you think this came out anyway? Obviously someone leaked it because they knew it was wrong. Do you think they'd then fail to also leak that these taps were done on political enemies? No. Such a detail would surely have been revealed along with the general fact that they were being done. I'm not saying oversight isn't needed. Just that in this case, the lack of it via lack of warrants didn't hinder the occurrences from becoming public, and you need not assume that they were used on the wrong people just because they were used without the right process - that's a logical jump that has not been borne out in fact.

Noone's whining about not getting Clinton or Carter. Just giving examples of the failures of the Clinton administration to protect both citizen rights and well-being. It's perfectly relevant to the current administration, since you're saying that the Republican party is oppressing the people. Historically, the Clinton administration shows more examples of having done so than the Bush administration. That doesn't mean everything Bush has done is legit. It *does* mean that you shouldn't vilify Republicans just because they are Republicans...and that's clearly what you are doing with your assumptions about the targets of the wiretaps.
