Uh huh sure...............
hey know who it is and what happened they just don't want to tell us who it is. I could understand that if it is still under investigation and because of that they are prevented from letting the public know where it occured. But why not just come out and say that instead of saying that no further information is available? The way that it is worded almost makes it seem like they do not know what is going on. Although if you interpret it a little bit differently it could be perceived to mean that they do. It gets a little confusing. I for one do not believe for a single minute that they take such stringent security measures at all. When I moved into a new apartment I of course received the previous occupants mail from time to time. Among it were SEVERAL credit card statements for two seperate VISA accounts. I just wrote return to sender, no longer at this address on it several times. They kept sending them to my apartment. Finally I opened one up to find a freaking number to call them about the issue. When I looked at the statement it showed the full credit card number, they guys social security number, AND the security code that was associated with it. I was APALLED. If I had wanted to use this guys personal information I could have and probably wouldn't have had the least bit of trouble. I mean it even showed what his limit was on the card(s) and how much was left for him to spend. It was ridiculous. When I spoke to a representative I explained to them that they kept sending these statements to my apartment and that no such person was at this address any longer. told them that I had opened the damn thing because they kept sending this information to my address and that this guy wasn't at my address any longer, if ever. The representative on the phone told me that there had been activity on the card as recently as that very day. I told the representative that i did not WANT or NEED that information and that I wanted the stuff to NOT be sent to my apartment. I told them that they could send me forms to fill out stating that the gentleman in question no longer lived there. They did not want to do this. Now thoretically I could understand that because it was not my card they would be unwilling to do that IF THEY HADN'T ALREADY pretty much given me all of this guys's information save they color of his poop that morning. I ended up having to get a supervisor on the line and explaining the situation all over again. The supervisor had the audacity to tell me that opening someone else's mail was a federal crime. Well duh, I know that. I was not opening the damn thing because I wanted to, I opened it because I had no choice after months of returning to sender. To make a long story short they did finally stop sending the things to me after much griping and calling and speaking to representative after respresentative. And what was their explanation for having all of that personal information on the damn statement? Verification purposes. To make sure that the person who was supposed to receiver the statement could verify it all. I could understand the last four of the card number being on there. MAYBE even the last four of the social to verify the account information. But not all of the information that had been on there.
What was the moral of my story? That VISA at least as a credit card company and its security measures suck big time. This is precisely the kind of thing that makes me deal in cash all of the time with Money orders for anything else. If I don't have the money for it then I don't buy it. End of story. I don't want someone having that kind of access to MY personal information
