- Misplaced blame?

Why are you assuming a corporate hush-job here? The info will out after the investigation has progressed to a sufficient point. Corporate America does *not* get to keep their actions under wraps - operations are under closer scrutiny than ever before. We now have Gramm-Bleach-Liley (sp?), HIPAA, and Sarbanes-Oxley, which all entail privacy and auditing requirements the likes of which have never been done before in business. The latter (S-Ox) is now being implemented, and requires disclosure in cases such as this. Rest assured, noone is keeping things under wraps. There are procedures that *have* to be followed, and this is too high profile to try to get away with not following them. The information will out soon, as the investigation progresses.
As for Bush and the unwarranted wiretaps - I agree, that's wrong. But that doesn't mean that I think he's wrong in general about the war on terror, Iraq, or other issues. I think at least it was a genuine motive on his part that caused him to allow those, not any desire to harang the rights of everyday Americans. Think about it: wouldn't it be kinda boring listening to 290 million Americans talk about Johnny's little league game, or argue over who's turn it is to host Thanksgiving? It just doesn't make sense that anyone would care about those conversations. Clearly, even though the means was wrong, the motive was right.
Who has allowed the worse perpetrations against the American people, Dubya or the Clinton administration - which let Janet Reno run wild (remember Ruby Ridge and Waco), and did not adequately address the first WTC car-bombing, the U.S.S. Cole bombing, Bosnia, Sudan, or Mogadishu? Step back, take a look at the facts, and don't let the media bias color your perception of the current administration. You'll probably find you have less to complain about than you think.
To summarize: yes, complain about the individual instances of rights violations. Yes, complain and boycott when corporations are clearly in the wrong. But, no, don't jump to conclusions and make generalizations from single incidents. Don't blindly take what you hear from the media as truth. Gather the facts for yourself, and look at them in a larger historical context, to get a sense of how it looks from a higher level. - Posted by: techboy_z Posted on: 12/27/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
