Moral to the story ...
'Media player flaws are nothing new. Cybercriminals are shifting their attacks from operating systems such as Windows to media players and other applications, the SANS Institute said recently.'

A lotof people have said in the past that their OS of choice (not necessariy OSX) would not be vunerable to widespread attacks because their OS doesn't have ActiveX or run email attachments by default. But as soon as you plug those holes, crackers will simply find new ones. In other words, don't go assuming that your OS is immune to attacks simply because it isn't vunerable in the same ways that Windows has traditionally been vunerable. If the target becomes enticing enough, somebody WILL find a way to exploit it.
