No root kit would be necessary
The root kit is there to hide the program from anti-virus programs. Since Linux users feel they are invincible, none would run anti-virus programs even if anyone wrote one.

Besides, it ignores the very real likelihood that, although YOU know that no clip should require root access, someone naive enough to think that a clip with an EXE is safe is probably naive enough to offer their root password when the program asks for it. If you wanted to be even "sneakier", you could send it as an rpm. Since you have to put in a root password to install an rpm (a weakness in the system if you ask me), the general computer public would gladly do so since the request wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary.
