Faulty Logic and other points
First, your logic is faulty. Just because someone else has done the same thing, does not make it right. Many people have gotten away with murder throughout our illustrious history -- this does not give me the right to go out and murder someone. The issue at hand is not Carter, Clinton, Nixon, or any other president who illegaly wiretapped American citizens - it is about out current president: Bush.

Finally, any president, according to FISA, is allowed to wiretap anyone without a court order.... As long as within 72 hours of the wiretapping, they submit documentation to the courts. And as only a handful of authorizations have not been granted since 1978, why is Bush afraid of going through this process? Who is he wiretapping that he doesn't want a secret, mostly conservative court to know about? I smell a rotten egg.
