So much for that highly vaunted Indian and Chinese quality...

While no product is 100% safe, Microsoft has a history of welcoming hackers with open arms... and not doing a thing about it.

Again, no system is immune. But even Linux and Mac OS X (which is an augmented FreeBSD, big whoop) were built with some thought behind them as to security - and what can get through doesn't easily get spread.

Now we can remain with our homogeneous environment and let the potential for virii to knock everything down... or bring in different platforms, using a unified document standard. You might end up with some paltry kiddie macro viruses, but anything attempting to break out of the microcosm of the word processor/spreadhsheet/whatever won't spread like an STD in a brothel. But heterogeneousness is what the public wants. All I can say is "It's your choice". People have stayed with microsoft through thick and thin and Gates is rolling in his euros (he ditched the dollar then spat on it with some choice comments back in January 2005... very (un)patriotic of him... ditto for his offshoring, but if he thinks he's going to get decent unbreakable code from countries with rampant piracy rates, he'd be a pretty stupid businessman... wait, businessmen only care about the bottom line, not quality... what am I thinking, silly me...)
