Regulators Kill Industries
We needed regualtions years ago for phone, cable, eletctricity, natural gas, etc. It was too expensive to make multiple delivery systems so regulations via public service commisons. These regulations made sure that the consumer was not gouged and allowed public comment on operations and profit. These commissions taxed the indudstry which passed them on to the consumer.

These taxes were oginally imposed to cover the costs of the commision only. But now the Federal and State governments are using these taxes as a source of revenue instead of their orginal chater to service the consumer.

Everyone that is writing articles about regulations in the internet or VOIP space seem to miss the point. As long as competition is out there capitolism will regulate the prices. No need for government regulators to keep the market place fair, don't like your ISP find a new one, don't like your VOIP vendor, there are many others to choose from. Who needs regulation?
