This will always be a thorny issue for security software.
This may sound strange coming from a linux-user, and general Microsoft-hater. I believe MS did the right thing identifying the software.

If I was still using Windows, I would damn well want to know about any and all phone-home-software on my PC. Remember the flames when MS was considering buying Claria, and the insinuations that MS anti-spyware might not report it? Users should have the option of being informed. There is no way that *ANY* software house should be exempted from having its phone-home software flagged for user-attention. Period. End of story.
